Children and young people's view on counselling

Exploring the value of counselling services.

This report draws together the findings of a brief review of the literature about what children and young people say they find useful and value from counselling services, along with findings from two workshops held with counsellors and managers from a range of youth counselling services.

The workshops explored how outcomes are monitored; counsellor perceptions of how well outcomes tools truly capture what young people say about how counselling helps them, and how the different theoretical approaches inherent in counselling training influence practice.
