What types of support do YIACS offer?

Our members, Youth Information, Advice and Counselling Services (YIACS), are organisations rooted in their local communities.

Your local YIACS will offer a selection of services that are bespoke by design, to meet the specific needs of young people in your area.

Services usually include:

  • An initial point of contact and a friendly welcome
  • Assessment of your needs
  • Information, advice and advocacy on your rights, health and wellbeing
  • Access to psychological therapies, counselling, and specialist advice
  • Signposting to information and referral to other services
  • Monitoring and evaluation of progress

Ensuring that YIACS are designed and run effectively according to evidence, good practice and young people’s voices is a central goal of our strategy.

We aim for YIACS to engage with and access more young people from least-heard worst-served groups.
