Young People in Mind

18 Sep 2017

A briefing paper series to share the key findings from the 'Young People in Mind' project.

Young People in Mind was a one-year project (2015 – 2016) that aimed to increase access to counselling and other psychological therapies to young people aged 16-19 at high risk of mental health difficulties.

A key focus was to explore points of transition, and to improve integration between voluntary sector Youth Information, Advice and Counselling Services (YIACS) and statutory mental health and other services.

Two reports were produced at the end of this project:

  1. Young People in Mind: The young people:
    • This report sets out data collected on 1,094 young people helped through the project and highlights the vulnerability of young people accessing YIACS and the complexity of presenting issues.
  2. Young People in Mind: Transforming service delivery:
    • This report, through its nine case studies, provides a snapshot of how the YIACS fared in their engagement with local statutory sector partners.

You can access both reports below.
